LEANNE WICKS

I am an ornitheologist and textile artist with Anglo heritage creating with Dabee/Wiradjuri Country in the Capertee Valley, NSW.  Birding is a daily spiritual routine and I interpret the world through connection with birds.
Robert Wicks, my 3^rd great-grandfather sent birds and eggs to the Australian Museum in 1837.  This boxing of birds makes me uncomfortable.  My work seeks to expose inherited dominant culture thinking and find the path of decolonizing my mind.
